One of Spinefarm Records newest signings Gore. are gearing up for a new EP – A Bud That Never Blooms – coming 24th October. This is the perfect way to enter the winter season (for many of us) with a taste of the future of this glorious band.  Lead by the hyper-talented frontwoman Hayley Roughton, (who is both an incredible metal vocalist and NASA Engineer), the band is heavy af, but ensures emotionally raw and vunerable topics to push through in lyrics and performance. It’s been amazing to see the celebration of female-lead outfits in the heavy scene of late, creating new icons and heroines for a generation of music fans who may identify just as much with a rough and feral vocal delivery and sound as they do with the struggles of womanhood and feminine perspectives. A huge step for the modern music scene and one I’m proud to see the heavy music commnunity embracing and supporting.

“‘Angels Like You’ is one of two songs on the EP written about a particular individual, as opposed to a relational dynamic,” says vocalist Haley Roughton. “This song is about somebody who appeared righteous and just but ended up being quite cruel. In a bigger scope, this song depicts those who are self-aggrandized and signal their virtue. These people profess their greatness to others as a mask, so that we do not see how much they truly loathe themselves. Recording this song was a cathartic process and helped me let go of that person, and the hurt they left behind.”

With the EP just days away, we’ll have time to enjoy the full project from Gore. before the new year will bring more music from them. I got goosebumps when I heard elements of future bass euphoria combine with a modern metal style. I encourage you to give this beautiful mixture a try.

Striking, hypnotic and blurring the lines between reality and graphic views – the official video for “Angels Like You” is capitvating (for those who aren’t squemish may I add!):
