Thrice Announce New Album “Horizons/West” & Share New Single “Gnash”

Post-hardcore icons Thrice are back. The California quartet have announced Horizons/West, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s Horizons/East, due out 3rd October 2025 via Epitaph Records.

Described by the band as a “direct continuation” of Horizons/East, the new record pushes even further into the sonic unknown—blending Thrice’s post-hardcore roots with cinematic textures, angular rhythms, and a dose of raw, unfiltered emotion. Leading the charge is blistering first single “Gnash”, which is available to stream everywhere now, along with a moody visualiser.

“This is the first time we leaned into something that felt like a direct continuation, like a sequel to a previous album,” says frontman Dustin Kensrue.

Self-produced and recorded at the band’s own New Grass Studios, Horizons/West sees Thrice once again teaming up with Scott Evans (mixing/production) and Matthew J. Barnhart (mastering)—the same team behind 2023’s The Artist in the Ambulance (Revisited).

Lyrically, the album delves into themes of identity, spiritual searching, and navigating an increasingly tech-dominated world. Kensrue explains: “A lot of this record is about parsing reality. We’re constantly being influenced by algorithms, by fear, by our own social echo chambers. Horizons/West tries to pull the curtain back on some of that.”

After more than two decades of sonic evolution, Thrice remain committed to pushing boundaries and staying true to their artistic instincts: “We want to keep growing, exploring, and making something that feels honest to who we are right now.”
