Southern California pop punk outfit Super Sometimes have unveiled their latest single, “Make Up Stories,” giving fans another taste of their upcoming album, Show the World What’s Underneath, due out 15th May 2026 via Pure Noise Records. Alongside the release, the band shared a new music video.
Following on from the previously released single “Afterthought,” “Make Up Stories” picks up the story where its predecessor left off. “It paints a picture of the same person who mistreated you crawling back, trying to beg and manipulate their way back into your life,” the band explains. “Lyrically, this song was incredibly fun to write. We used the concepts of a court trial and a game of chess as analogies for a broken relationship.”
Musically, the track represents a leap forward for Super Sometimes. “This track showcased significant growth in musicianship between the three of us,” the band continues. “It was more sophisticated than anything we had done before, and it truly opened our eyes—kicking the door down for us to go all in musically on this record.”
The band reunited with longtime collaborator Zach Tuch and brought in friends-turned-idols like Knuckle Puck’s Nick Casasanto, Hot Mulligan’s Chris Freeman, and producer Kyle Black for writing sessions. Drawing on the genre’s rich history, from modern torchbearers like State Champs, The Story So Far, and Seaway to classic influences such as blink-182, New Found Glory, and Green Day, Super Sometimes have crafted a debut that captures both nostalgia and fresh energy.
Super Sometimes are confirmed to support Arm’s Length on their upcoming North American headline tour along with The Callous Daoboys, and Harrison Gordon. The band will perform in Japan in September and are confirmed for Vans Warped Tour in Washington, DC and Orlando, FL.
