Split Chain Drop New Single “who am i?” Ahead of Debut Album ‘motionblur’

Split Chain are continuing their rise through the ranks of the alternative world and have unleashed their new single “who am i?” giving a glimpse into a new side of the ‘nu-gaze’ group. Leaning heavily into atmospherics with reverb soaked guitars and saturated vocals taking centre stage, the single is a beautifully crafted short but sweet release that is emotionally raw and sonically immersive.

“who am i?” sees Split Chain dig deep into themes of self-doubt and imposter syndrome, frontman Bert Martinez-Cowles shares: “‘who am i’ is an important and deeply personal song for all of us because we all relate to it in one way or another. It addresses our own inner critics by confronting the feelings of imposter syndrome we all struggle with as a consequence of the success Split Chain has seen in a short amount of time. We are all our own worst critics, and the song is about working to overcome and block out the noise, negativity and feelings of inadequacy that stems from within our own minds. ‘who am i’ is ultimately about pulling ourselves out of the negative cycles of rumination and allowing ourselves to believe that we do deserve good things and that we all deserve them just as much as anybody else.”

The track is taken from the band’s hotly anticipated debut album ‘motionblur’, out July 11th via Epitaph Records. Pre-Order/Pre-Save: https://splitchain.ffm.to/motionblur

“who am i?” continues to shape the identity of a band tipped as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging alt acts. Early support from tastemakers and heavyweights alike has positioned Split Chain as a band to watch — and their debut full-length is shaping up to deliver on all fronts.

The band are hitting the road hard with a packed run of shows across Europe, the UK, and North America, including a Download Festival appearance on June 14th, and a headline London show at Camden Assembly on June 16th. They’ll also join the likes of Knocked Loose, LANDMVRKS, and Underoath on selected dates later this year.
