Ontario’s Softcult have dropped their latest sonic gut-punch, ‘Pill to Swallow’ — a brooding, shoegaze-soaked anthem that doubles as both a protest and a lifeline for the disenfranchised.
Released via Easy Life Records, the single finds twin siblings Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn doubling down on their now-signature fusion of grunge textures and pointed political commentary.
“‘Pill To Swallow’ is a rallying cry for everyone feeling particularly exhausted and burned out by the current state of the world,” the duo explain. “It’s a reminder to keep pushing for and believing in positive change. As impossible as it can feel sometimes, we can’t allow the current social and political climate to jade us. Even when we feel hopeless and disenfranchised, we can’t slip into apathy or we let the oppressors win.”
To mark the release, Softcult have also announced their return to UK stages this winter, with a nine-date headline tour running across the country in late November and early December.
