Belgian shoegaze masters Slow Crush have unveiled their mesmerising new single “Bloodmoon”, the latest glimpse of what’s to come from their upcoming full-length album Thirst, out 29th August via Pure Noise Records.

The single delivers a dark and emotional swirl of dream-pop textures and heavier shoegaze tones. Speaking about the track, the band explain: In the absence of light only the darkness remains. In this dark void we feel lost without purpose or spark while time slips through our fingers like sand. ‘Bloodmoon’ is about the struggles and pain of a passionate and purposeful life but a life worth living. A life without is dark. In this fulfilling life we can completely lose ourselves and forget about the crunch of time.”

Thirst marks Slow Crush’s third album and first for Pure Noise Records, following the critically acclaimed Aurora (2018) and Hush (2021). The record sees the band evolve their signature blend of atmospheric noise and shoegaze serenity, this time with sharper edges and deeper emotional undercurrents.

Recorded with producer Lewis Johns at The Ranch in Southampton, the 10-track album captures a band pushing their sound further into both vulnerability and raw power. Vocalist/bassist Isa Holliday describes it as a deeply personal release, noting that some vocal takes left her in tears.

“There were several songs I couldn’t record without dissolving,” Isa shares. “It’s the deepest excavation of my feelings yet.”

Themes on the record include the fragility of human connection, the push and pull of love and loneliness, and the need to be present in a world that often distracts us from simply being.

“We want people to let themselves go and feel embraced by the music,” Isa says. “Like stepping into another dimension.”
