Slipknot share “Scissors” video & release 25th anniversary edition of debut album

Slipknot’s seismic self-titled debut has officially turned 25 – and the Iowa nine are celebrating the milestone with a massive deluxe reissue, Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition), out now via Roadrunner Records.

Originally released on June 29th, 1999, the record was a Molotov cocktail of chaos, aggression and innovation that flipped the metal world on its head. Two and a half decades later, the album remains a game-changer – triple platinum, critically adored, and still just as feral as the day it dropped.

The new anniversary edition shines a light on the making of the album, with unheard recordings, alternate versions, early test mixes and material previously locked away to all but the band’s inner circle. The release charts Slipknot’s transformation from an underground phenomenon into a cultural force that redefined heavy music for an entire generation.

To mark the release, Slipknot have also dropped the official video for “Scissors”, taken from Welcome to Our Neighborhood, Pt. 2.

The deluxe edition comes in a range of formats, from digital to highly collectible vinyl and CD editions – though many have already sold out in record time. These include:

  • 100 blood-filled self-titled LPs – sold via the band’s secret site 742617000027.net (gone in seconds, website crash included).

  • 6LP Box Set (blood-splattered vinyl, limited to 1899 copies) – also sold out instantly.

  • Multiple 2LP colour variants, 2CD versions, and full digital release.

Beyond the studio recordings, fans can relive the band’s explosive early live shows. This includes a 1999 set from Hartford, CT – pure chaos on a small stage – and a 2000 UK mainstage performance that proved Slipknot could channel that same unhinged energy to massive festival crowds. Both have been remixed and mastered from original soundboard tapes, handpicked by the band to capture the spirit of those formative years.
