Slipknot Announce 25Th Anniversary Deluxe Reissue Of Debut Album

Slipknot are throwing it all the way back to where the chaos began. To mark 25 years since their era-defining self-titled debut burst onto the scene, the Iowan nine have announced Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition) – a deluxe reissue packed with unreleased material, raw demo recordings, and rare live performances from the dawn of their reign.
Out September 5 via Roadrunner Records, the reissue will be available across multiple formats, including a 6LP box set (with blood-splattered vinyl), red/black 2LP, 2CD, and digital editions. For the diehards, an ultra-limited run of 100 blood-filled vinyl copies was released via the band’s secret site earlier this week – and sold out in seconds, crashing the website in the process.
The 25th Anniversary Edition dives deep into the band’s archives, unearthing 59 recordings that include legendary Indigo Ranch demos and alternate versions, alongside test mixes, studio outtakes, and live recordings that capture the raw power of Slipknot in their embryonic, most unhinged form. Of those 59 tracks, 40 have never been officially released until now.
Also included in the box set:
-
Exclusive new artwork and rare, unseen photos from the band’s personal vaults
-
A set of 9 collectible Slipknot photo cards
-
Original recordings and unreleased takes from Ross Robinson’s sessions at Indigo Ranch and SR Audio
Today, Slipknot have shared one of those unheard cuts: the blistering original demo of “Prosthetics,” recorded before they entered the studio with Robinson. The track shows the band in a more feral, experimental state – a glimpse into the unrefined brutality that would soon take the metal world by storm. [Listen to “Prosthetics (Demo)” here.]
More than just a studio time capsule, this edition captures Slipknot as the live juggernaut they quickly became. Alongside the demos and alt mixes are newly mastered live recordings from 1999 and 2000. From the ferocity of small-stage carnage in Hartford, CT, to the band’s explosive ascent on the UK’s mainstages the following year, these performances document how quickly Slipknot evolved from underground chaos to world-dominating force.
Following the sold-out Here Comes The Pain anniversary tour earlier this year – including a triumphant homecoming at Knotfest Iowa – this reissue is the perfect capstone to a milestone era. Whether you’re a maggot from day one or just discovering the madness, Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition) is an essential trip into the eye of the storm.
