Mayday Parade Announce New Album “Sad” & Release Single ‘Under My Sweater’

As they continue celebrating two decades as one of emo’s most enduring bands, Mayday Parade have announced Sad – the second instalment in their self-released album trilogy. The record arrives 3rd October 2025, with lead single “Under My Sweater” out now alongside its official video.

Frontman Derek Sanders says the track leans into both nostalgia and forward momentum for the band: “It’s difficult to sing about a sweater without invoking Weezer, but that’s part of what I love about this song. ‘Under My Sweater’ wears its inspirations on its sleeve and feels both a part of old school nostalgic emo as well as something modern and a step forward for Mayday Parade.”

Following on from last year’s Sweet, which showcased anthemic hooks and expansive textures, Sad takes a slower, more introspective turn. Produced once again by longtime collaborators Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, the album blends atmosphere and emotion with the soaring choruses and raw honesty that have defined Mayday Parade’s sound since the mid-2000s.

Fans can expect everything from the heartache of “Promises” to the falsetto-led ballad “One Day At A Time” and nostalgic throwback “I Miss The 90s.” The record closes with the ambitious, multi-part epic “I Must Obey The Inscrutable Exhortations Of My Soul,” which the band describe as one of their boldest studio moments yet.

The announcement comes on the heels of a career-defining anniversary year, which saw the band sell out a North American tour to over 70,000 fans and make a triumphant return to the main stage at Vans Warped Tour’s 30th anniversary, a full-circle moment for a band that once sold CDs in those very parking lots.

Mayday Parade will be hitting the road with All Time Low across North America this autumn, as well as appearing at this year’s When We Were Young Festival. International dates are also confirmed, with a massive run of shows taking them across Australia, Asia, North America, and Europe into early 2026 – including a stop at London’s O2 Arena on 24th January with All Time Low.
