Lauren Babic Unleashes Her Solo Debut EP ‘Too Much and Never Enough’

Canadian alt metal star Lauren Babic has built a reputation over the years as having one of the most powerful voices in the scene. After carving out a name for herself fronting bands like Red Handed Denial, CrazyEightyEight, and SKYLIMIT, as well as her viral metal covers, Babic has built a devoted following online, amassing hundreds of millions of streams and views across her platforms. Each project showcases her impressive vocal range from beautifully melodic to crushing brutality and now she has officially embarked on a new chapter in her career with the release of her debut solo EP, Too Much and Never Enough.

Produced by Adam Bentley (Arch Echo, Plini) and Lee Albrecht (Hollow Front, Silverstein, The Devil Wears Prada, Archers), the EP see’s Babic taking all of her influences and combining them into an impressive 4 track release that ranges from pop fuelled rock anthems to heavy mosh pit inducing ragers. The opening tracks ‘Sanctuary’ and ‘Breathe You In’ fall into the former category as she blends electronic elements, distorted guitars and pounding drums with delicate melodies and soaring choruses. They perfectly blend modern metal and rock influences with pop sensibilities that are sonically up there with any of her peers. The following track however see’s her pure heavy side let loose with ‘I’m Bored’ delivering a metalcore meets nu-metal style rager packed full of guttural screams, intricate guitar work and beatdowns. The final song ‘Let It Die’ brings both sides together with Meshuggah-esque verses leading to beautifully crafted melodic choruses before unleashing a crushing technical grooved up breakdown. The contrast in styles is something not a lot of artists can pull off so seamlessly but the quality of songwriting and artistry on show in this EP is proving once again why she is one of the most dynamic voices in modern alt-metal.

Speaking about the EP, Babic shared: “This EP has been a huge turning point for me musically and personally. I’ve been an independent artist for my whole career and this release is proof that you can do anything if you work hard, believe in your work, and carry forward with kindness. This project wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of my team and my friends, and I couldn’t thank them enough for joining me on this journey.”

Alongside the release, Babic has unveiled a music video for ‘Sanctuary’: “‘Sanctuary’ is the first song on the EP, and the last song to be heard by listeners. I think it’s the perfect summary of what each song on the EP represents – melody, heaviness, fierceness, and versatility. I hope you all enjoy my EP, this is just the beginning.”
