“Folk Horror” pioneers Forlorn have released their debut album “Aether”, out now on Church Road Records. The album acts as statement of intent to establish themselves as a formidable force within the UK heavy music scene, and they are doing it their way. From crafting innovative sounds that take influence from a range of metal genres to incorporating expressionist art and pagan themes, the Southern UK band are creating a whole world that encapsulates the music. In a time where bands often follow a set formula, Forlorn are carving out their own distinct sonic and visual identity, which “Aether” takes to new heights.
Alongside the album release they have also unveiled the music video for ‘The Wailing’. The song seamlessly merges heavy de-tuned riffs and eery soundscapes with vocalist Megan Jenkins mix of ethereal melodies and visceral screams.
“‘The Wailing’ depicts the element of Air as a powerful connecting force which gives us life but is also capable of unimaginable devastation” Megan shares, “Conceptually inspired by western horror film ‘The Wind’, the song tells the story of a woman attempting to survive in the harshest of landscapes whilst also trying to outrun her demons.”
