Cancer Bats Announce New Album ‘Give Me Dirt’ and Drop New Single ‘Stay Stuck’

Canadian hardcore heavyweights Cancer Bats have announced their return with a brand new studio album, ‘Give Me Dirt’, set for release on August 7 via Marshall Records.
“We are beyond excited to be joining the Marshall Records roster!” the band said. “From the amps that helped define the sound of our favourite bands, to their support of independent venues and their absolute punk rock approach to everything they do, we feel like this is the perfect home for Cancer Bats!”

The new studio album Give Me Dirt is testament to a band built on solid rock foundations.”
Ahead of the album, Cancer Bats have dropped a brand new single, ‘Stay Stuck’, the track arrives with a high-energy, comedic new video directed by Mitch Barnes, also known for his work on ‘Lonely Bong’.
Speaking about the single, frontman Liam Cormier explained: “‘Stay Stuck’ was such a fun song for us to write. It was one of the first songs that we finished while working on the new record, and we really all felt like we had tapped into the classic Cancer Bats bouncy fun element we’ve had in songs since the beginning… The lyrics explore the idea that, at any age or moment in life, we all reach a point where we realise something has to change. Maybe it’s the path we’re on, or just the way we see things, but there’s that instant where we say to ourselves, I’M NOT WASTING ANY MORE TIME! We’re all moving towards something bigger, chasing goals and dreams that the world can’t take away from us. That’s what keeps us going.”
Musically and thematically, ‘Give Me Dirt’ reflects a year of travel and reflection for the band. Inspired by journeys through the Canadian Rockies and the mountains of Nepal, the record explores themes of nature, loss, environmental destruction, and reconnecting with the physical world. Motorcycle travel also plays a central role in shaping the album’s identity, reinforcing its sense of movement, grit and introspection. That connection to the natural world even extends to the artwork. In a deliberate rejection of digital design, Cormier created a massive 4ft by 8ft mixed-media painting for the album cover, using paint, paper, stencils and drywall mud to build a raw, tactile visual companion to the music.
“So many people are sick of AI and things that look too polished,” Cormier said. “I wanted the artwork to capture the energy of the album and represent us as a band. We are rough and dirty, and our sound is loud and a mix of so many influences. Making art like this felt like such a good visual representation of not only the songs, but also Cancer Bats ourselves.”
