SharpTone’s newest signing GLASSWAVES release “FV*K.ME.UP”

As much as we love a great screamy performance and a ballistic level drum beat with guitars, there is a huge part of us that loves a great song. Powerful chorus, a singer with a solid competant voice and gorgeous tone brought together is a weakness we are not afraid to admit. But when artists like Glasswaves write together, it’s much more evocative and direct. This dark pop sense partnered with aggression is a hard combination to make work, and for this act who won Ernie Balls Battle Of The Bands just last year (and therefore got to perform on the Vans Warped Tour), they already have that secret sauce.
Singer Noah Rich says that “within the world we’re building as Glasswaves, it reflects that loss of control and the feeling of giving yourself over to something bigger, whether that’s a person, a system, or something inside your own mind. This track is the first piece of a bigger story that will keep unfolding with every release. What started as a completely different idea slowly turned into a mix of electronic textures and heavy guitars that just felt right. Once the chorus came together, everything really clicked into place. At its core, the song is about destructive love and emotional dependency that pulls you toward something you know isn’t good for you but can’t let go of.
See there was something in that chorus! Even the band felt it!
The video definitely has it’s dystopian moments… a empty dental exam room, a mini backroom of sorts. It’s a great setting for, just like the lyrical themes of this track, something that’s just a little off and definitely could be bad if you don’t notice it quick.
Signing to SharpTone signifies a bright new era for the band and with their initial stripes in terms of touring under their belt they have everything they need to flourish.
