Cage Fight Tear Into Online Harassment With New Single “PIG”

UK metal juggernauts Cage Fight have unleashed their new single, “PIG,” a sonic assault of metal prowess, full of crushing riffs, head-bang inducing grooves that lyrically is a brutally honest attack on digital sexual harassment. The track sees vocalist Rachel Aspe deliver a powerful vocal performance aimed directly at the men who send women unsolicited explicit messages online, an issue she’s faced personally for years.
“‘PIG’ is the expression of my disgust of men sending unsolicited intimate pictures, messages, crossing boundaries and harassing women digitally,” Rachel explains. “I’ve had hundreds over the years, and it’s crazy to think that everyday women regularly get these messages. I just wanted to scream my hatred to them, raise awareness of the issue and show solidarity to other women who experience this abuse.”
The music video for “PIG” takes the message even further, incorporating real messages sent to Rachel and other women who volunteered their own experiences of harassment.
New data from Amnesty International highlights how widespread this problem has become among Gen Z women online:
-
53% have received inappropriate emojis (🍆💦) on their posts and photos
-
44% have received unsolicited explicit images
-
43% have been body-shamed
-
40% have faced unwanted sexually suggestive comments
-
32% have experienced hate speech
-
27% have reported online stalking
