WINDWAKER continue to lead a new identity of metalcore

The opening bars of this track start as an ode to Nintendo-era soundscapes before erupting into the stank-face inducing savage riffs that metalcore thrives off. Not an expected combination but then again…when was Windwaker ever predictable: one of the things that have kept us firmly paying attention to this Melbourne band since their first releases and debut album ‘love Language’ in 2022. Forging one of the most distinctive styles in the scene they’ve already toured the globe alongside the likes of Beartooth, Enter Shikari, Creeper and Motionless in White. And for those of us in Australia you’ll be catching them at Knotfest in March 2024.

Speaking on the new single “Fractured State of Mind” the band share: “FSoM’ showcases a darker, heavier take on our sound without sacrificing the melodies and experimental sound design Windwaker is known for,” the band offers. “It’s an anthem of frustration, born from battling the forces that try to dictate how we think and live. It’s a wild ride that dives deep into the chaos of a messed-up world, yet still hooks you with a chorus that’s as catchy as it is rebellious.”
