WHILE SHE SLEEPS’ DEBUT ALBUM ‘THIS IS THE SIX’ TO RECEIVE ITS FIRST EVER VINYL RELEASE
2012 – the year the Olympics came to the UK for the first time since 1948, Spain became the first football team to win two consecutive European Championships, The Avengers was released in cinemas having the biggest opening weekend of the year and Sheffield metalcore group While She Sleeps released their debut album ‘This Is The Six’. Now I know you might think the last one on that list may seem small in comparison but the influence and impact on the scene that album had cannot be overlooked. It was the record that helped catapult WSS to the next level and inspired a whole new generation of heavy music fans and bands with their iconic blend of heavy and melodic elements combined with raw heartfelt messages. Fast forward to 2023 and ahead of the bands biggest ever headline show at London’s Alexandra Palace “This Is The Six” will be available on vinyl for the first time.
The record will be available via Music For Nations on September 22nd and is available to pre-order HERE, the album will be pressed on 180 gram white vinyl and packaged in a gatefold sleeve.
Mat Welsh reflects upon his memories of making the album:
“Stepping into a ‘real’ studio to record your first full-length album is a feeling I’ll never forget. The writing process was a blur, a mix of excitement and anxiety on how to follow ‘The North Stands For Nothing’EP, with the first full-length album, released on a major label and on a level we’d never experienced before. We met with Carl Bown (who we are still working with 12 years later) and Colin Richardson to make the record, they had a history of amazing albums.
We threw everything we had into it, with no boundaries. Writing like our lives depended on it. We’ve always been searching to create music that fills our own personal void, the music we’re searching for but can’t find. I feel like we achieved that, it sounded like the five of us and this collection of music has made us who we are. It doesn’t sound like anyone else and it’s an essential part of why we’re still here today. After twelve years it’s really special for us to finally welcome it to the vinyl collection, as an integral part of our history.”
While She Sleeps will also headline London’s Alexandra Palace on September 23rd
