Waterparks Announce New Album ‘Jinx’ And Drop New Single ‘Prowler’
Waterparks have officially announced their sixth studio album JINX, set for release on July 24 via BMG. The record is now available for pre-order/pre-save, alongside the release of a brand-new single, “PROWLER”, offering another glimpse into the next era of the band’s evolving sound.
The album features an ambitious lineup of collaborators, including Mark Hoppus of blink-182, composer Danny Elfman, Eric Nally of Foxy Shazam, and electronic producer Dillon Francis, signalling a wide sonic scope across the project.
Frontman Awsten Knight has opened up about the emotional weight behind “PROWLER”, describing it as one of the most personal songs he’s written to date.
“I wrote ‘PROWLER’ at a time I felt the most isolated last year,” Knight explains. “I really hate change and for the first time since anyone knew who Waterparks was, we separated from (almost) all of our old team and our record label… it felt like losing almost everyone I knew… while also feeling like career-wise the floor was falling out from under me.”
“This song is a reflection of the extremely concentrated sadness I felt over those months while trying to rebuild my world.”
According to the band, JINX explores themes of existential dread, fractured relationships, and the pressure of visibility in a constantly connected world. The album reportedly balances inward reflection with outward chaos, capturing the sense of trying to find meaning in increasingly unstable surroundings.
