Heavy genre crossers TheCityIsOurs have released their powerful new single, “Hot Mess,” a thematically personal track that sonically delivers all the best parts of the band, from unrelentingly heavy moments to pop infused melodies. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album “Will You Still Love Me?”, set for release on January 31st, 2025 via Arising Empire.

Vocalist Oli Duncanson opened up about the song’s deeply personal inspiration, stating: “‘Hot Mess’ is an open, honest address to living closeted. The denial of lying to myself that I would be able to live the rest of my life hiding my true self and running from a small part of my life that I cannot change. But as time goes on, I felt my world starting to crash around me, the crushing realisation that if I tell my family about my sexuality I may hurt them but if I don’t, I also realise that’ll I’ll never be happy and eventually die alone.”

He continued, “The track was a way of trying to exorcise the burden of feeling unable to really connect with anybody, in a relationship and even friendship, as I’ll always have a wall up unless I give every single aspect of my whole being to everyone I want to stay in my life.”

The band will also be hitting the road later this year and into early 2025. Fans can catch them live on their European tour with Self Deception and Eyes Wide Open at  the following dates:
