Oxfordshire heavy band LASTELLE share epic new EP Exist Vol. i

Huge melodies and soundscapes that throw to artists from Holding Absence to Mallory Knox to Beartooth to I Prevail to Dream State, LASTELLE share their new EP ‘Exist Vol. i’ which is both elegant and heavy af in perfect balance. Sharing the new single “In Unison” this week it’s an epic tease into the full EP which, end to end, is immaculately produced and delivered. Guitarist Jonjo Williams explains “In Unison deals with the unshakeable feeling of emptiness that is felt after losing someone close to you, and how you can feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself along with them.”  This track is the answer to ‘In Separation’, which precedes it on the release and introduces the theme of a voicemail to someone who will never hear it. The motif expresses “a purge of emotions that it was never possible to communicate to the recipient – a message to a loved one lost due to illness.” The EP also containes single ‘Life In Silhouettes” which tracks bassist Freddie Whatmore’s journey to understand his neurodivergent mind. In the process of writing it, he says “I realised that I was writing about feeling unsure of my place in the world, and the fear of finding out there was “something wrong with my brain”. The final major chorus turns the question around, and asks in rhetoric “What was I afraid of this whole time?””

if you find delight in anthemic, uplifting chords, but need your outburst of vocal screaming with powerful vocals, straining and crumbling with emotion all in one, the style of music Lastelle make will be one to check in on. Already locked in for 2025’s triumphant return of Take It Down festival in Portsmouth I image it will be a busy 12-month period for the band as more people get into the EP and want to see this with their own eyes.

Getting into the next gen of rock / heavy music, Lastelle share hazy performance video for “In Unison”:
