The Callous Daoboys are back with another slice of genre defying goodness in the form of their brand new single “Distracted by the Mona Lisa”. The song is another example of the range their new album ‘I Don’t Want to See You in Heaven’  (out May 16th) has to offer. A step away from their math-core origins and even the more subdued previous single ‘Lemon’, ‘Distracted by the Mona Lisa’ is a straight up rock anthem packed full of memorable hooks and some 2000s-esque emo/post-hardcore riffing before a super creative glitched up breakdown smacks you around the face. It’s another string to their ever expanding sonic bow and one that is bound to attract a whole host of new fans.

Speaking about the single, vocalist Carson Pace shared: “There have been countless times in my life where I have felt married to my passion. It’s been detrimental, painful, and has forced me to sacrifice a normal life. This song is me committing to being married to that passion, regardless of the consequences. It’s less a spit in the face of normality, and more a love letter to my own band.”

The new track follows “Two-Headed Trout / The Demon of Unreality Limping Like a Dog” and“Lemon”. With each release, the Daoboys further cement their place in the heavy scene as true disruptors—unafraid to challenge genre norms and push boundaries at every turn.

“Distracted by the Mona Lisa” is your next stop in The Callous Daoboys’ surreal sonic exhibit The Museum of Failure—the conceptual framework behind the new album.
