Super Sometimes Announce New Album ‘Show the World What’s Underneath’ and Drop Single “Afterthought”

Southern California pop-punk trio Super Sometimes are back with their highly anticipated new album, Show the World What’s Underneath, set for release on May 15 via Pure Noise Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has shared the album’s lead single and music video, “Afterthought”, giving fans a first taste of what’s to come.

“’Afterthought held its hand up as the clear opener to the album as soon as it was written,” says the band. “From the beautifully melancholic verse to the finger-point–inducing chorus, the song is haunting and riddled with passion in both its lyrics and vocal delivery, intended to convey the intense feeling of longing and desperation for someone who treats you as nothing more than an “afterthought.”

The band teamed up once again with longtime collaborator Zach Tuch and brought in writing sessions with genre peers like Nick Casasanto of Knuckle Puck, Chris Freeman of Hot Mulligan, and producer Kyle Black. The resulting record blends the influences that inspired Super Sometimes to pick up instruments, from modern touchstones like State Champs, The Story So Far, and Seaway, to genre icons blink-182, New Found Glory, and Green Day. The album bridges skate-punk energy, new-millennium pop charisma, and modern angst, with songs exploring coming-of-age struggles, romantic fallout, and the thrill (and fear) of committing to the road ahead.

“’Show the World What’s Underneath” is us staking our flag in the ground as one of the torchbearers of pop-punk,” the band continues. “There’s a little bit of something for everybody, and our take on the genre will definitely be a breath of fresh air for those who have been looking for something a little different in the scene. We hope it inspires more people to fall in love with pop-punk the same way we did growing up.”
