STRAY FROM THE PATH Drop New Single ‘Kubrick Stare’

Stray From The Path may be one of the most consistent bands of the past 15 years, their unique blend of groove filled riffage and raw intensity is something they have truly mastered with each release and their their latest single, ‘Kubrick Stare’, is no different. The song marks their first release on their new label home, SharpTone Records and is their first new music since 2022’s “Euthanasia”. Reuniting once again with longtime producer and collaborator Will Putney, the song encapsulates their signature aggression and experimental guitar work while thematically delving into the unsettling numbness of modern digital life.

Guitarist Tom Williams explained the song’s concept, stating: “It felt like we were capturing lightning in a bottle. We built the song around those scary chords. Every day, people on the Internet see the craziest things they’ve ever seen in their lives. Sometimes, it’s hard to feel seriously about these atrocities because we see them all day. You’re so numb to it that you’re just staring blankly.”

He continues, “It’s unfortunately become normal, and it’s driving us crazy. Hence, the ‘Kubrick Stare’ reference—which was a tactic Stanley Kubrick used to show a character losing his mind. We’re locked into our phones, and we probably look like Jack looking out of the window in The Shining.”

The single’s release is just the beginning of an exciting period for the band, as they gear up for a string of UK live dates with an intimate headline show in London’s Underworld before they support Spiritbox at Alexandra Palace. They will also appearing at this year’s Slam Dunk Festival in Hatfield and Leeds this May.
