Static Dress announce second album with new single ‘Nostalgia Kills’ featuring Underoath

UK post-hardcore innovators Static Dress have officially announced their long-awaited sophomore album, injury episode, set for release on 29th May 2026 via Sumerian Records. Alongside the announcement, the Leeds quartet have dropped a new single and video, “Nostalgia Kills”, featuring post hardcore icons Underoath, offering fans another glimpse into the album’s raw and unapologetic sound.
Static Dress have been consistently rewriting the rules of modern alternative music since their debut. With a career spanning graphic novels, cinematic visuals, and even video games, the band’s work has always blurred the lines between narrative and sound. Their 2022 debut, Rouge Carpet Disaster, was hailed as a watershed moment for contemporary post-hardcore, earning them tours with Bring Me The Horizon, Knocked Loose, and Underoath.
Nearly four years on, injury episode marks a bold evolution. The album dives deep into the personal and artistic growth of the band, blending the lore of their debut with themes of trauma, loss, and the gritty reality behind lifelong fantasies. Unlike previous releases, the recordings are free from studio trickery, often captured in single takes to preserve the raw intensity and emotional vulnerability of the performances. Each member Olli Appleyard (vocals), Vin Weight (guitar), George Holding (bass), and Sam Ogden (drums) contributed fully to the album, making it the most diverse and collaborative collection in their discography.
First teased with February’s standout single “human props”, the album’s latest offering, “Nostalgia Kills”, sees Static Dress teaming up with Underoath for a three-minute post-hardcore onslaught. Trading barbed lines reminiscent of Underoath’s 2006 Define The Great Line, the track is a brutal yet infectious collision of old-school intensity and contemporary innovation.
In a world where post-hardcore is often diluted, Static Dress remain unapologetically themselves, mysterious, cinematic, and unflinchingly human. injury episode promises to be a defining moment for one of the UK’s most imaginative and forward-thinking bands.
