Bringing together members of Hildamay, Polar & Outcry Collection, STATE OF YOU deliver the riffs.

The quality of this act stood out from the opening bars and one vocalist Steve Sitkowski lets his guttural (FFO Keith Buckely) raw we’re locked in. Following on from their debut self-titled EP last year, they’ve come out the gates strong for 2024. Over the course of lockdown the time they were granted allowed them to concoct over 40 songs, and now is the the time to bring them to fruition.

With “The New Depression” the band say: “'(it’s) about the absolute shit show of the current economic climate and our visceral reaction to it.” I add to this and add it’s a release of anguish and distress and disdain and the general sentiment of the moment. Where’s the joy? Nothing quite tangible yet, but we have coping mechanisms and moments of joy and this is one such.

They’ve already toured with the likes of Young Guns, but the band will headline their own show (albeit in London) in February. The start of a full UK-tour we hope.

An anti-anthem for the current climate – listen to “The New Depression” (released on Silent Cult):
