Split Chain Share New Single ‘Subside’

Bristol’s surging “nu-gaze’ outfit Split Chain are firing on all cylinders with the release of ‘Subside’, the latest single from their debut full-length ‘motionblur’, due out July 11th via Epitaph Records. ‘Subside’ is a seething, cathartic release that delves into the bands heavier side with crunched up nu-metal-esque riffing and screamed vocals kicking things off before ascending into their familiar floaty shoegaze and grungey melodics.
Thematically the song wrestles with emotional baggage and toxic relationships, frontman Bert Martinez-Cowles explains: “‘Subside’ is a call-out song to the antagonists in everybody’s life. It’s a break out from the judgmental, close-minded people who consistently try to bring you down to their shitty level. ‘Subside’ is the realisation that you are under no obligation to anyone and owe nothing to any of those people. Free yourself from the dead weight in your life and allow yourself to grow past them so you can thrive and live life in a way that works for you.”
The track follows the band’s recent buzz-building singles and solidifies their arrival as one of the UK’s most electrifying new voices in the heavy music space.
The band are currently storming their way through a packed live schedule — tearing through the U.S. with a headline stretch before hitting Europe and the UK for festival slots and club dates.
