SPANISH LOVE SONGS RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘PENDULUM’

SPANISH LOVE SONGS have released a third new single “Pendulum” from their upcoming album ‘No Joy’ out 25th August 2023 via Pure Noise Records. The song is another to add to the bands rapidly increasing list of heartbreaking anthems as they once again prove to be top of the pile when it comes to modern emo. Spanish Love Songs have always had the ability of writing songs that take you to a certain place and “Pendulum” is no different. Vocalist Dylan Slocum has a way of phrasing his lyrics in a way that hit you right in the heartstrings whilst keep you wanting more, lyrical themes of death are met with solum yet somewhat optimistic melodies whilst musically the soundscape is layered with electronic elements shifting in and out as the guitars and drums hold it all together.

Going more in depth on the lyrics of the song vocalist and guitarist Dylan Slocum explains, “The song is a few different stories blended together that all dance around the fact that death is such a solitary act. The details of the stories are meant to feel vaguely familiar — someone on the verge of dying alone in a hospital; someone with dementia; countless friends who’ve decided to end it on their own terms. We’ve all lost someone… I think people generally don’t want to be left alone, or to die alone, yet that’s often all we’re left with. It’s all very terrifying, so a lot of the time I’m just trying to be present and enjoy what I’ve managed to scrape together. I wait for the pendulum of my worry to swing the other way, into some form of manic love.”
