Sixth Wonder Release New Single ‘Thorn’

Glasgow’s modern metal up and comers Sixth Wonder return with a blistering new chapter in the form of their latest single ‘Thorn’. The track is an accomplished collision of emotion and aggression as vocalist Rebekah Kirk tears through the mix with her impressive range of screams and soaring melodies. Musically they demonstrate their technical ability with a barrage of crushing intricate riffs and neck-snapping breakdowns while cinematic soundscapes weave in and out.

Lyrically the song is built on themes of betrayal, emotional claustrophobia, and realisation, the band explain: “‘Thorn’ is about coming to the realisation that you are fighting against someone you thought was on your side. It delves into the confusion of why they have chosen to betray you and reaches the destination of bitter acceptance, that they were never truly behind you from the beginning.”

The single lands alongside a performance video, directed by Joey Aitchison. The band use the tight space as a metaphor to mirror the themes of the song. “Going through that emotion, it feels like the walls are closing in on you,” they add. “We felt a tight, small space with cold blue colours was a perfect fit for the song.”
