Deathcore powerhouses SIGNS OF THE SWARM have dropped another colossal slab of heaviness in the form of ‘Scars Upon Scars’, the latest single from their upcoming sixth album To Rid Myself of Truth, out 22nd August via Century Media Records.
Currently tearing through a stacked European festival run, the Pittsburgh group are showing no signs of slowing down. The new track is a ferocious beast of a track that leans into vocalist David Simonich’s personal struggles with addiction. “I tried to make it accessible for anyone who is dealing with addiction,” he shares. “showcasing the depriving lows of withdrawal and highlighting the hunger that is never satiated. I hope someone can take this piece I’ve given of myself and feel less alone. With such direct lyrics, I approached my vocals with influences from hardcore bands I like, such as Jesus Piece, Backtrack and Desolated.”
SIGNS OF THE SWARM re-teamed with producer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty) for To Rid Myself of Truth, aiming to push their sound further into extreme territory. The addition of guitarist and backing vocalist Carl Schulz has added fresh fuel to their fire, with the band drawing sonic inspiration from not just deathcore, but the industrial might of Fear Factory, the technical groove of Meshuggah, and the atmospheric weight of Gojira.
