SHOOTING DAGGERS ooze with timeless style with new single “GLOW”

This track is a treat from every angle. Start to finish earworm accompanied by a rad video. It’s everything the punk, hardcore, shoegaze (and more) mix of this track needs to serve a slice of greatness. And to top off the work of Sal, Bea and Raquel, Dennis Lyxzén (of Refused) also swings by to drop some stellar featuring. Even shooting his version of sweat box gym to throw in the mix (so definitely press play on the below and use your eyes for a minute to take that in). What stands out about this track is it’s timeless nature. You can imagine the streets of Seattle in the 90s turning heads to this song just as much as the young people of today around Europe. It’s a really powerful song and, inspired by the Netflix show ‘GLOW’ set around an 80s women’s wrestling company, they’ve brought this to life (yet another plug to watch the damn music video!).

Every now and then you find these absolute gems right on your doorstep. As a Londoner writing this piece, to see the rise of SHOOTING DAGGERS has been a joy. And a reminder the big smoke can still inspire and churn out some essential modern artists. Take a step back in time to check out their debut album from a couple of years back too, just in time before their second mini-album ‘The Real Life Thing’ is released 5th June.

The band share “this track is about denouncing gender roles and respecting gender identity. Self-liberation, embracing femininity and fighting internal misogyny. Feminine isn’t weak, and masculine doesn’t have to be stereotypically strong. It doesn’t matter if you want to express strength in a more masculine or feminine way, anything is valid as long as you feel powerful from within. When we wrote this song we knew who we wanted to have a feature on it and we were just back from opening two shows for punk legends Refused and all of us were mesmerised by Dennis Lyxzén’s stage presence.”
