SET IT OFF RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘CREATING MONSTERS’
SET IT OFF have always had a flair for the dramatics and their latest single ‘Creating Monsters’ delivers just that. Continuing their life as an independent band, SIO are bringing some spookiness into the mix with a song that is bound to be featured in many a halloween playlist this year as they juxtapose themes of social anxiety with theatrical music that has elements of rock, metal and big band jazz!
Speaking about the new single frontman Cody Carson says: “The original voice memo for the ‘Creating Monsters’ concept is called ‘Big band metal!!! DO THIS!!!’. It was a BLAST writing it! We were writing a big band jazz rock song, but with heavy rock.”
On the story behind the song, he explains: “Part of the battle with anxiety is being around people that don’t deal with it, and don’t understand. So we came up with the idea that it’s like creating a room full of monsters that only you can see. This song is about the prolonged battle with anxiety, as well as the will to fight back.
I want people to hear this and know they’re not alone in their struggle, but also be able to use it as a tool to somewhat come to terms with it, laugh it off in a way, and celebrate that we’re still fighting the good fight.”
