Fresh starts can really be an amazing thing. And for Hertfordshire band Defences their short break and return (powered by Longbranch Records), has seen the band evolve and hit a new bar. Sharing brand new single ‘Sound & The Silence”, alongside the announcement of their new album Shadowlight (8th November) the band who have played multiple headline shows nad festivals from Burn It Down to Download have the world at their feet.
Speaking on the track, the band share: “With this song sonically, we wanted to create a somewhat eerie soundscape, but with a juxtaposition feel-good Paramore esque chorus,” comment the band. “Ultimately the music itself ties in with the song’s theme of Cherry alone with her thoughts walking in nature, whilst going through a myriad of different emotions in the process. We also decided to feature the original voice notes of Cherry documenting her thoughts, which can be heard subtly in the final mix.”
