Poppy, Amy Lee, and Courtney LaPlante Unite for Explosive New Track ‘End Of You’

Metal and alt-pop fans are still reeling after Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante, Evanescence’s Amy Lee, and Poppy joined forces for the mammoth new single End Of You, released this week. After days of cryptic social media teasers, the trio’s collaboration has finally arrived.

In a recent interview with NME, the artists revealed how the track came together. The idea originally started with Poppy and her Negative Spaces producer, former Bring Me The Horizon member Jordan Fish. “I knew he was friends with Amy, and I thought she would really be a great person to meet and get to talk to,” Poppy explains. “It was mine and Jordan’s idea to start with, and then we thought, ‘What if we made our version of a dark Moulin Rouge, like *Lady Marmalade?’”

Lee, who was working with Fish at the time, likely on her recent collab with Halsey, Hand That Feeds, invited Poppy and Fish to her home. “Poppy and Jordan came over to my house and we flushed a lot of it out together,” Lee says. “The first verse came to me mostly cooked, the part that I was going to start the song with. It’s funny, because Poppy wrote my words and I wrote hers.”

The production was a fully collaborative effort: Poppy’s drummer and guitarist recorded the drum and bass sections, while Fish and Spiritbox’s Mike Stringer handled guitars. Lee describes LaPlante’s vocals as “the last layer that came in.”

At the heart of the song is the lyric, “The end of you is the start of life for me,” written by Poppy. “It’s more of a universal message,” she says. “Watching the video of all of us together, it feels strong and powerful: ‘Imagine the things they can do when they’re united!’ It’s grounded in strength.”

Lee adds that the track also carries a broader message about challenging norms and female empowerment. “For me, it’s about taking on the patriarchy,” she says. “In order to make way for the new, we have to let some old ways die… It’s about challenging the norms and showing how strong we are when unified as women.”

Despite the chemistry, the trio don’t appear to have more music in the pipeline… for now. But Lee hints at potential live performances and even jokingly floated the idea of appearing on game shows together. “Now we’re in the phase of, ‘What fun things can we do together?’” she says.

The artists’ paths have crossed before: Poppy joined Spiritbox on stage last year at Louder Than Life to perform Soft Spine, and LaPlante famously handled being mistaken for Poppy at the Grammys with viral-worthy charm. This summer, Evanescence announced North American headline dates in September with Poppy as support.

End Of You arrives as Poppy continues promoting Negative Spaces (Sumerian, 2024), Spiritbox follow up their sophomore album Tsunami Sea (Pale Chord/Rise, 2025), and Evanescence gear up for a new album slated for 2026. Whether this powerhouse single will appear on Lee’s next record remains unknown.
