Polyhphia’s Tim Henson Announces Solo Project and Drops New Single ‘Original Sin’
Genre-defying guitar innovator Tim Henson has stepped into a new chapter with the release of ‘Original Sin’, his first fully self-produced solo single, arriving alongside a striking new music video and the official announcement of a forthcoming clothing brand bearing the same name.
Best known for reshaping modern instrumental music as a core member of Polyphia, Original Sin marks the first time Henson has taken complete creative control of a release, producing, mixing and shaping every element entirely on his own. The result is a track that feels both meticulously refined and quietly confrontational, pushing against expectation while remaining unmistakably his.
Originally conceived on keyboard and inspired by digital synth textures, Original Sin evolved as Henson translated those ideas onto his nylon-string guitar, an instrument he hasn’t centred so prominently since Polyphia’s breakout, flamenco-tinged Playing God. The shift gives the track its distinctive tension: elegant yet unsettling, structured yet disruptive, deliberately bending form rather than settling into it.
Speaking on the release, Henson explains: “‘Original Sin’ started as something digital with synths and keys, but once I translated it to my nylon-string guitar, everything clicked. I wanted to play with contradiction: a waltz that feels like it’s driving forward, something elegant but uncomfortable. Conceptually, it’s about choice. If you’re forced to do the right thing, it doesn’t mean anything.”
The concept also extends beyond music. Henson has confirmed the launch of Original Sin, a high-end clothing brand envisioned as a complementary creative outlet. Designed with the same obsessive attention to detail that defines his music, the brand aims to merge elevated fashion with Henson’s broader artistic vision.
While Polyphia remains a major focus heading into 2026, Original Sin offers a rare, unfiltered look at Henson as a solo artist, one whose influence stretches far beyond the guitar community. With millions of followers across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, Henson continues to bridge music, philosophy, fashion and innovation in ways few artists can.
Henson recently appeared at an exclusive press conference during the NAMM Show, where, in collaboration with Ibanez, he unveiled five upcoming guitar prototypes. Among them were the new TOD (Tree of Death) line of electric nylon-string guitars and the all-new TOD100 models, both slated for release later this year.
