Oxford-formed heavy newcomers Mondegreen are delivering a sound that pulls from the raw grit of ‘90s nu-metal while pushing it into darker, more experimental territory. Formed in 2023, the band is driven by a shared love of heavy music and a DIY ethos – writing, recording, producing, and designing everything themselves to capture something that feels unfiltered and real.

Mondegreen’s music thrives on contrast, colliding heavy, groove-driven riffs with haunting melodies, atmospheric synths, and a mix of screams and clean vocals. The band’s new track, “Guidance,” is a perfect introduction to their style.

“Our track Guidance is for anyone who loves that raw ’90s nu-metal sound with some modern twists,” the band explains. “It’s got that in-your-face raw energy in the verses then switches to something more melodic in the choruses. Lyrically it’s about that messy fight you have with yourself battling the voice in your head and trying to break free from whatever’s holding you back.”
