Linkin Park return with new music, reveal new members, album & tour!
The countdown (or count up?) is finally over and Linkin Park have revealed exactly what they have been upto behind the scenes and as it turns out, is a whole lot more than we could have even imagined! Where to start? Well one of the most notable additions you may have seen in their latest promo pictures is the two new figures joining the group. First up is Emily Armstrong from critically acclaimed band Dead Sara as co-vocalist, she is joined by Colin Brittain [songwriter/producer for G Flip, Illenium, One OK Rock] who is the bands new drummer. There have been many rumours circulating the internet about who could replace the late great Chester Bennington should the band choose to return and we now have the answer!
If this news wasn’t big enough, they have also announced the release of their brand new album “FROM ZERO”, which is set for release on the 15th November this year. Alongside this announcement the band have given us the first taste of it with new single ‘The Emptiness Machine’, which showcases Armstrong’s Linkin Park vocal chops for the very first time. The song is sonically identifiably LP as the familiar sing/rap tones of Mike Shinoda enter the fray early on with punked up drum grooves and soft pianos before distorted guitars and Armstrong’s gruff sing/scream vocals burst in with intent to kick start a new era of Linkin Park. It’s always a ballsy move replacing a singer and especially one as iconic and revered as Chester Bennington, however I’m sure he would be proud of the band for continuing and starting this new chapter. His legacy will live on forever, while a new era of Linkin Park begins.

In a press release the origins of the album are revealed: “Without expectations, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn quietly began meeting up again in recent years. Rather than “trying to restart the band,” their instinct was to simply spend more time together, and reconnect with the creativity and camaraderie that has been at the core of their friendship since college. During this time, they invited various friends and cohorts to join them in the studio; among the guests, they found a special kinship with Armstong and Brittain. A natural chemistry drew these musicians back into its gravitational pull as they logged more and more hours in the studio. It was the sound of lifelong musicians rediscovering the uncontainable energy of a new beginning once again. Over this season, FROM ZERO was born.”
Speaking on the new era, Shinoda stated, “Before LINKIN PARK, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what LINKIN PARK has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created. We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”
Along with all this news, the band simultaneously had global livestream performance, which you can see below (for 24 hours), which saw the new line up perform a setlist full of classics old and new as well as the brand new single.
