Lamb Of God Release New Single ‘Blunt Force Blues’
Richmond metal titans Lamb of God have unveiled their latest single ‘Blunt Force Blues’, offering the final preview of their upcoming album Into Oblivion, which arrives on 13th March via Century Media Records and Epic Records.
While the album’s title track explores a world in flux, ‘Blunt Force Blues’ takes a more reflective turn. The song sees the band looking back at their early days in Richmond, Virginia, and the tight-knit local scene that helped shape their sound.
Frontman Randy Blythe explained how the group’s formative years were heavily influenced by their local peers.
“We learned how to play by watching and hanging out with other local dudes. That’s what we aspired to do – keep up with good local bands. They were just as much of an influence on us as any of the bigger bands from different cities.”
For guitarist Mark Morton, the track captures the sense of creative freedom the band feel more than 25 years into their career.
“For me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation. It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, ‘Let’s just make music that we think is cool,’ which is really where it all started.”
‘Blunt Force Blues’ follows a string of hard-hitting singles released in the build-up to the album. First came ‘Sepsis’, the band’s first new material since 2022, which paid homage to the early ’90s Richmond underground.
Consequence praised the track’s slower, crushing pace, noting that Morton’s riffs were “bruising” while Blythe delivered vocals reminiscent of a “heavy metal Nick Cave.”
Next up was ‘Parasocial Christ’, a three-minute thrash assault that Revolver Magazine described as an “anti-tech thrasher,” before the ferocious title track ‘Into Oblivion’ landed. Metal Hammer hailed the song as “ferocious,” while BrooklynVegan called it “as much of a gut-punch as you’d hope for from LOG.”
The album was produced and mixed by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur and recorded across several locations tied to the band’s identity. Drums were tracked in Richmond, guitars and bass were recorded at Morton’s home studio, and Blythe laid down vocals at Total Access Recording Studios in California — a legendary studio known for early punk classics from bands like Black Flag, Hüsker Dü, and Descendents.
To support the release, Lamb Of God will hit the road this spring on what promises to be one of the heaviest North American tours of 2026. The run kicks off on 17th March with support from Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg.
The band will also host their annual cruise festival, Headbangers Boat, which will feature a stacked lineup including Zakk Sabbath, The Dillinger Escape Plan, In Flames, GWAR, The Haunted, D.R.I., 200 Stab Wounds and X-Cops among others.
UK fans won’t have to travel far to catch the chaos either. Lamb Of God are set to headline the Friday night of Bloodstock Open Air on 7th August 2026.
Into Oblivion is available now, with limited-edition vinyl variants, a collectible CD with a bonus zine featuring album art sketches and handwritten lyrics, and exclusive merch bundles also available.
