Lake Malice release video for new single ‘Mitsuko’

Alt metal genre pushers Lake Malice are one of the most exciting new bands around right now. Only a couple of years into their career and they have already crushed the UK festival circuit, toured around Europe with Bloodywood, received 2 nominations for Best UK breakthrough and Best Breakthrough Live Artist at this years Heavy Music Awards and are set to support Skindred and Enter Shikari on tour later this year. These accolades don’t come unwarranted though, they are a reflection of the quality of their musical output and why their loyal fanbase is consistently growing. Their latest offering entitled “Mitsuko” is an emotionally charged rager which encapsulates everything Lake Malice do so well in just over 2 minutes as they seamlessly blend electronic elements with huge riffs and pummelling instrumentals as vocalist Alice Guala demonstrates her impressive range from beautifully soft and melodic to visceral aggression. The track will feature on their debut EP ‘Post-Genesis’, which the duo have announced will be released on the 27th October via SO Recordings.

Speaking on the track Blake Cornwall (guitar / production) and Alice describe it as “the pissed off love child of Linkin Park and Pendulum, wrapped up in the unfiltered aggression of Loathe… Mitsuko is a deeply personal and intense torrent of ‘full-on rage’, dealing with the complexities of family values, and raw emotions of a fragmented childhood. The title takes inspiration from the original ‘Battle Royale’ manga, where the character Mitsuko shares a similar struggle of family heartbreak and abandonment.”

The accompanying music video is a beautifully shot sci-fi theme with Alice taking the lead role, the band explain “From an eerie laboratory, Mitsuko unleashes her extraordinary power and rage to seek retribution on those she had trusted to nurture and protect her… Inspired by the captivating character Eleven from Stranger Things  (we’re eagerly anticipating the final season!), The video is an intense, violent and  cinematic collaboration with horror filmmaker Loki Films.”
