Lake Malice Drop New Single & Video ‘Nobody Wants To Be You’

Lake Malice are back with their venomous new single ‘Nobody Wants To Be You’, described as a “dark pop-metal takedown of vanity and nepotism in the music scene”, the track hits hard both musically and thematically.

The single sees vocalist Alice Guala unleash her signature mix of fiery charisma and brutal honesty backed by guitarist Blake Cornwall’s sharp production that seamlessly glides between genres as hyper-pop electronics interplay with thunderous riffs and anthemic industrial fuelled melodies. The duo continue to stand out from the crowd and carve their own unique sonic blend that deserves it’s place on the big stages.

Via a post on Instagram Alice shared: “I wrote this song after getting sick of rich kids cosplaying as working class. It started about the music scene but turned into something bigger ~ about class, ego, and privilege.”

I’d been watching White Lotus while writing it (every season hits as hard btw) and it hit me how that show nails what it means to be disgusted by privilege, and like how it’s actually become uncool to flaunt it. I grew up embarrassed my mum drove me to school in a Fiat Panda. Now there’s a strange sense of pride in telling certain stories instead.. Maybe we’re finally done pretending money makes people interesting??”

The song was produced by Cornwall with the help of Jon Cass of As Everything Unfolds, and mixed by super producer Carl Bown (Sleep Token, Bullet For My Valentine, While She Sleeps) with mastering by Ste Kerry. The accompanying music video, directed by Zak Pinchin, is a dark cinematic piece that brings the song’s bite to life featuring the band’s backup dancers, a familiar sight to anyone who’s caught them live this year.

Following a massive summer of festival appearances including Slam Dunk, 2000trees, Wacken Open Air, and RADAR, Lake Malice are about to hit the road again this time as main support for Enter Shikari on select UK and Europe shows, with a one-off headline show in Southampton in between, before joining Hanabie for their November UK & Ireland run.
