Your favourite Brazilian punk-rocker Karen Dió is back with new music on her latest single, ‘Cut Your Hair’ – a punked up fierce, unapologetic anthem tackling outdated beauty standards and the superficial expectations placed on women in music.

Speaking about the track, Dió gets straight to the point: I used to get A LOT of comments from people online telling me “they like me more with long hair”, which I think is bizarre. I forget how invasive and superficial people can be! So I wrote “Cut Your Hair” as my final response to all of them. “If you don’t like me with my short hair, then you don’t like me at all.”

Nothing stays the same for Karen Dió. Growing up with constant moves and navigating the early stages of her music career, she’s learned the art of detachment. “I have to be so unattached to friends, things, and objects,” she says. That restless energy has only intensified after her breakout single, ‘Sick Ride’, went viral, bringing her music to millions worldwide. “‘Sick Ride’ was a little bit outside what I normally do,” Dió admits. “When I saw all the great feedback and millions and millions of people watching and playing the songs and stuff…it’s just crazy.”

With the backing of Hopeless Records, support from famous friends, and international media buzz, Karen Dió is shining a spotlight on Brazil’s burgeoning punk rock scene. Her Latin roots are central to her artistry: “If I can open that door for Latin American artists, then I’ve accomplished my goal,” she says.
