Ice Nine Kills have officially cemented their place in horror history with their brand-new single, “Twisting the Knife”, featured in the film Scream 7. The track marks a rare, high-impact collaboration between one of modern metal’s most ambitious acts and one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time. Adding extra star power to the release, cast member Mckenna Grace lends her vocals to the track, bridging the worlds of horror cinema and heavy music like never before.

Spencer Charnas, the mastermind behind Ice Nine Kills, shared his thoughts on the track: “Twisting the Knife is our tribute to Wes Craven and the Scream franchise, which means so much to us. Scream is baked into the DNA of who I am and of Ice Nine Kills—my love of horror, comedy, and the collision between the two… Hearing the killer talk about horror movies, in that distinctively pop-culture savvy Kevin Williamson way, blew my mind.”

Charnas went on to describe how the collaboration with Mckenna Grace came together: “When we learned that Mckenna is a fan of our band, it made perfect sense to invite her to sing. She recorded her part in my home studio, in the same room where I keep my screen-used Scream knife prop, one of the four rubber knives made for the first movie.”

For Charnas, the song also draws inspiration from Marco Beltrami’s iconic Scream scores, blending the moody atmospheres of the films with Ice Nine Kills’ signature metal flair.

Grace added: “Making this song was such a special experience for me- I am such a big INK fan and it was such an amazing opportunity to be able to play with a different style of music. I am so inspired by Amy Lee’s vocals and we all wanted to channel Scream and Sydney’s story as best as we could. Spencer and the guys were so much fun to collaborate with and I’m so thankful to Kevin Williamson.”

The official music video for Twisting the Knife continues Ice Nine Kills’ signature homage to horror cinema, merging performance with a short narrative that expands the ever-growing INKverse. Iconic voice actor Roger L. Jackson reprises his role as Ghostface, and the story picks up from 2025’s The Laugh Track, featuring appearances from David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Johnny Brennan of The Jerky Boys.

The song was first teased during Ice Nine Kills’ headlining show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley, where the band staged the theatrical “death” of Scream star Rose McGowan, followed by a surprise onstage video call from Ghostface himself. This spectacle came after a career-defining run, which included 2.5 years supporting Metallica on their global stadium tour and multiple sold-out headline tours worldwide.

To coincide with the release, Ice Nine Kills have unveiled a limited edition ‘Nightmare on The Knife’ merch drop, riffing on their popular monthly Nightmare on The Ninth series. Items are available for a limited time here.

UK fans can also catch Ice Nine Kills live at DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, taking place June 12–14.
