House of Protection Drop New Single “I Need More Than This”

Genre-bending heavy duo House of Protection continue their forward momentum with the release of their third single of the year, “I Need More Than This”, taken from their upcoming EP Outrun You All, landing May 23.

Marking a shift in tone from the explosive energy of their previous track “Fire”, this latest release leans into a more subdued, introspective soundscape — without losing the sharp edge that’s defined the band’s aesthetic. Equal parts dreamy and defiant, “I Need More Than This” builds on pulsing rhythms and layered atmospheres, all centred around the urgent lyric: “something better must exist.” It’s another stylistic leap for a band quickly building a reputation for shapeshifting between industrial heaviness, hardcore intensity, and ethereal melancholy.

In a statement about the track, the band said: “‘I Need More Than This’ is us exploring a mood between really heavy/fast and slow/chill. We don’t really have a song like this so it was fun to push ourselves in this way.”

The track arrives with a music video drenched in ‘90s grunge aesthetics, merging lo-fi textures and performance footage . Watch below.

They’ll celebrate the release of Outrun You All with a special hometown show at The Roxy in Los Angeles on May 24, which also marks both members Aric and Steve’s birthday. .

The band’s summer is stacked with festival appearances — including a return to the UK for Download, Reading, and Leeds — before reuniting with Architects in October as main support for their EU/UK tour. They’re also up for two trophies at the Heavy Music Awards this August: Best International Breakthrough Artist and Best Breakthrough Live Artist.
