Headwreck Release New Single ‘Raindrops’

Brisbane genre blurring upstarts Headwreck are stepping firmly into their next chapter, announcing a major global partnership with independent label EMPIRE. Already earning a reputation as one of Australia’s most explosive new heavy acts, Headwreck are now setting their sights well beyond home turf. EMPIRE, the label and distribution company behind global names including Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak and Shaboozey – have added the Brisbane outfit to their roster, making Headwreck the first act in their genre to join the influential imprint.
Speaking on the partnership, the band said the connection was immediate: “From the first time meeting, it was clear they genuinely understand our vision, who we are and where we want to go. They’ve built something special by empowering artists to stay true to themselves, and that’s exactly the kind of team we want behind us. We’re very excited for this next chapter. We can guarantee it won’t be boring ;)”
EMPIRE’s A&R Director Peter Kim was equally direct about the signing: “Headwreck is one of those instinctive decisions—you hear it and just know. There’s a rawness and intensity to what they’re doing that feels both fresh and necessary right now. They’ve got the songs, the identity, and the ambition to break on a global level. We’re fired up to help share their vision with the world.”
Adding further context, Cameron Walsh, Australian Territory Manager at EMPIRE, highlighted the band’s creative control and evolving sound: “There’s something undeniably compelling about Headwreck – the immediacy of their sound, the clarity of their identity, and the genuine connection they’re building with fans. What really stands out is how intentional everything is – from their fully in-house creative to the chaotic energy of their live shows and the way they channel early 2000s heaviness into something far more expansive, at the intersection of metalcore, alternative and electronic-driven sounds.”
Alongside the announcement, Headwreck have dropped their brand new single “Raindrops”, their first release since last year’s ARIA-charting record Attitude Adjustment. Premiered on triple j Drive earlier this week, the track immediately made waves thanks to its blend of textured production, dual vocal delivery and punishing guitar-and-drum weight.
Lyrically, the band describe the track as exploring “the feeling of not being able to be rid of someone who negatively impacts your life, but still delivered in a fun way, true to the Attitude Adjustment style.”
It’s a sharp evolution of their sound, balancing emotional weight with high-impact, modern heaviness – and it arrives as the band prepare for a huge run of international touring.
Headwreck are currently kicking off a sprawling EU/UK schedule, including a major support tour with Japanese genre-blenders Paledusk, plus headline shows leading into a Download Festival appearance in June. They’ll also join We Came As Romans and Thrown for Download sideshows, before heading back to Australia later in the year to support British metalcore heavyweights Bury Tomorrow.
