Greywind Release New Single ‘The Scarecrow’

Irish emo duo Greywind have unveiled the latest and final preview from their new album Severed Heart City, set for release on 16th January 2026 via FLG. The new single, ‘The Scarecrow’ is a beautifully crafted emotional rock ballad that dives deep into themes of pain, empathy, and resilience.

“‘The Scarecrow’ is about watching someone you care about suffer and them not realising how loved they are and how their pain affects you too,” explains guitarist Paul O’Sullivan.

Vocalist Steph O’Sullivan adds, “For me, the character of ‘the scarecrow’ is a devil/angel on your shoulders. He represents the people around me who are going through their own internal battles too. I think of times after shows with fans, or messages we get from them, where they share their stories with us and I feel less alone in my feelings. He reminds me to never quit but to continue on the path to my dreams.”

Severed Heart City promises a moody, highly stylised world, following the duo’s previous singles that have built a loyal fanbase online. Produced, engineered, and mixed by Sam Guaiana (Neck Deep, Silverstein, Holding Absence), the album wears Greywind’s emo influences proudly, drawing inspiration from the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance.

Severed Heart City is an extended allegory for the stages of trauma and the inner struggle to find resolution,” Steph and Paul explain. “There are many roads that lead to the heart of this broken city, but only one bridge out – one of acceptance and hope. Our band was created after the suicide of our uncle, and since then we’ve been on a journey of achieving our biggest dreams, only to have everything ripped away. This album is a place where it’s ok to be sad or feel the world is against you, but also where you make sure none of that stops you from fighting for yourself and your dreams.”
