Timeless: Eli Smart’s latest single invokes 90’s nostalgia and warmth.

Eli Smart’s story is wild. Growing up with musicians in the family, spending his childhood in Hawaii and then jumping to the UK to study and now live. Touring already with artists from The 1975 to Bastille. Experiences many a 24-year old would dream of. With his latest song he taps that 90s tip of summery, scuzzy guitars; leaning into a world where Smashing Pumpkins and the Beach Boys can have as much in common as Ty Segall and Spring King. This song had the hairs on the back on our necks stand up whilst simultaneously making us want to make the perfect road trip with this song on repeat. It’s mesmorising in audio form and the perfect addition to chill moments.
Eli says on the new single, “I wrote this song when I was in high school. I love it when songs evolve and take on different forms as life goes on. This tune at this point kind of feels like a familiar piece of driftwood that I tossed into the ocean, forgot about, and has now somehow made its way back to me all sanded down and a bit more sun baked. I feel a similar way too! It’s also always quite ironic when something you wrote when you were younger almost makes more sense in the present, it’s funny to realise what changes and what stays exactly the same.”
Eli Smart’s song writing makes us want to stop everything and join a band. All with a smile on our face:
