Portland-based metalcore stars DYING WISH are kicking off 2025 with a bang, unleashing their intense new single “I Brought You My Soul (Your World Brought Me Despair).” Produced by the renowned Will Putney, the track showcases the band’s evolving sound while staying true to their signature ferocity.

Accompanied by a visually explosive music video, “IBYMS (YWBMD)” is a relentless assault on the senses. The track showcases frontwoman Emma Boster’s ability to seamlessly blend gut-wrenching screams with soaring melodic vocals, creating a dynamic sonic experience that takes elements of traditional metalcore and hardcore into modern territory.

Boster describes the song as a reflection of the overwhelming state of the world and its impact on mental health. “‘I Brought You My Soul…’ is written about being one of many affected by the state of the world we are living in,” she explains. “Constantly witnessing brutality and injustices has taken a toll on our collective mental health. [The lyric] ‘I am miserable yet I am sane’ references that being impacted by these tragedies happening in Gaza and on our own American soil in fact makes us normal.”

She also hints at what’s next for DYING WISH, revealing that this track marks the first step toward their highly anticipated third album. “The goal from this album is to challenge ourselves to create something different from the first two releases. We’ve spent the last four years dialing in our sound and ethos, and we hope this track proves we’re innovating while staying true to our identity.”

Guitarist Pedro Carrillo, who co-wrote the video treatment with director Eric Richter, describes the video as a deeply personal project. “With everything DYING WISH has ever done, we’ve tried to push ourselves and be as honest as possible. Inauthenticity is the mind killer,” he states. “Especially in this day and age, everyone is putting up a front. The world is crumbling, foreign affairs are at an all-time high, and basic survival is getting harder.”

Carrillo also sees the video as a love letter to the band and their journey. “Five different walks of life coming together in this exhausting cesspool. This video represents that bond and our commitment to staying real. Working with Eric Richter was an incredible experience—he challenged us to never settle, to make sure every moment in the video felt truly authentic.”

DYING WISH will hit the road this April and May in support of Spiritbox, alongside Loathe and Gel.
