No one does it like DeadWax; nu metal has never been more potent with new single “IDC”

They themselves set up their shop as a ‘crazy blend of grime, metal, hip hop, dance music and good old rock n roll’, which sounds like a rather delicious offering that’s been long brewing in the Yorkshire area. They’ve survived the lockdown era, changes (rather volatile sometimes) in the industry but the last year or two has been paying some long overdue dues to this eclectic, sensational band both live and recorded. This newest track tackles the reality of doom-scrolling and general addiction to the absolute tat we consume online, featuring the perfect combo of vocals from Cardiff base Astroid Boys singer Benji Wild; a fellow band in the new era of Alt Grime, nu metal or rap rock hip-hop. Whatever you want to call it – this is a true jam.

Jack, vocalist from DeadWax shares: “This track feels like a step up for us, in terms of the writing, production, music video, everything. We all absolutely love the record. Plus having Benji feature on the song feels like a certification. Astroid Boys were like my favourite band and one of my biggest inspirations, so it was a bit surreal when we started working together to be honest”. Benji Wild of Astroid Boys adds: “It’s an honour to be back working with a band that has firmly stamped their mark on the scene & still have so much potential. It was pure vibes getting the track recorded, video shot & playing a few shows with Deadwax. I’ve been bumping the track a lot since I had the finished product sent over and I’m excited to see the response it gets from the listeners on release day. Big love & bigger blessings.”

We love the way it’s not just soncially, but visually the band are merging rock, metal and hip-hop/grime styles. Tonnes of movement and spicy live energy throughout.
