“BLUR” is part synthy serenity, part face-melting wall of metal. Not a bad start to introduce you to the new single from Missouri based dead7. Taking inspiration and pulling together various genres in heavy / alt music isn’t new, but there’s something addictively dramatic in the way dead7 pull their light melodies together and absolutely wild riffs. Their ability to create atmosphere, suspense and cathartic release within raw performance is exemplary.

“Everything is so far away when it’s Armageddon every day,” singer Jason Kozik observes, capturing the chaos of life’s uncertainties. “It incorporates a lot of what dead7 is,” he shares. “When we wrote it, we thought, ‘This is our sound. Here we are.‘ Lyrically, it’s about trying to navigate life amidst personal struggles, relationships, and the overwhelming state of the world. It feels like a blur, and you’re just trying to survive.”
