Against The Current front woman Chrissy Costanza has debuted her solo project with a new pop rock single “7 Minutes In Hell” which features guest vocals from rock duo VOILÁ. The song is strong introduction with a powerful mix of distorted guitars and drums setting the foundation for Chrissy and VOILÁ to deliver vocal performances full of ear worm melodies and dynamics. It’s not a huge departure sonically from Against The Current but demonstrates Chrissy’s strong songwriting ability in her own right.

Thematically the song is describes as being “Through the lens of a dark romance, Costanza explores the conflict between her true self and the idealised version others expect her to be. The song captures the vulnerability of being placed on a pedestal, plagued by the fear of falling from any deviation from others’ expectations. A lyrical twist on the game “7 Minutes in Heaven,” the song explores the line between Heaven and Hell, right and wrong and the allure of embracing one’s supposed darker side.”

Speaking on the single Costanza shares: ‘7 Minutes in Hell’ explores the unsettling reality of how someone else’s Heaven can be your personal Hell. For years, I was bound by others’ expectations, always questioning why I was drawn to what they deemed ‘wrong.’ This song is the awakening after falling from grace, realizing that what they called Hell might actually be my freedom.”

The accompanying music video was directed by the award-winning Ryan Valdez, whose notable credits include Korn, Kat Von D, Rise Against, among others; watch here:
