gürl share sassy, powerful anti-pop anthem “HEXY”, with an added touch of horror.

The thing we love about gürl is everything they do has 110% energy and delivery. As a loose point of comparison they channel the metal-leaning tendancies of new era Bring Me The Horizon, have torn up the rule books of ‘rock’ in the way Nova Twins have and distilled the legendary, zero-filter status of the likes of Ashnikko and spawned something wonderfully different. The thing we adore about their new single “HEXY” is that it’s heavy af and blends the world of riffs and breakdowns with trap beats and savage lyrics. Combine that with the nod to Blade’s iconic blood rave scenes then we’ve got a pretty big talking point to get our teeth into.

Joshua Dalton (vocals) gives us a perfect overview of the new single:
“Tired of being sexy? Try being HEXY. We sandwiched creepy horror sound fx and Beastie Boys-inspired vocals between thicc guitars and 808s, and effectively wrote a love song from a perspective of utter cynicism. The result is our Halloween anthem. We’re not the kinda band that would release a Christmas song (yet), but we refuse to let “Thriller” corner the market on Halloween.

“As for the video, everyone knows cinema peaked at Blade 1998. If you live your entire life having only ever watched this Wesley Snipes classic, you’ve seen all you need to see of the moving pictures art form.  So, naturally, we felt the opening blood rave scene would be perfect for HEXY.”
