Capstan release single & video for ‘Empire’
We love when a band ventures outside of the constraints of genre and Florida post-hardcore five-piece Capstan are doing just that with their single “Empire.” The song has all the technical modern metalcore riffing and screams that you would expect but with added electronic flairs, pop sensibilities and musical atmospherics which at times give off a theatrical sound whilst still being cohesive. It’s a fun and exciting sound that is sure to to feature more on their upcoming album “The Mosaic”, which is out 24th May 2024 via Fearless Records.
Speaking on the lyrical themes of the song guitarist and vocalist Joseph Mabry says: “‘Empire’ is an introspective piece… The lyrics confess guilt regarding privilege, its cost, and mass complicity in atrocities committed in the name of western imperialism. Recognizing the global scope of violence, poverty, and inequality, and acknowledging that the system is decidedly and irreparably broken is imperative to the possibility of progress.”
